Great design tells a story long before anyone steps through the front door. Every carefully selected material, every texture, every line, and every thoughtfully placed detail reflects the vision of the designer. My job as a photographer is to preserve that vision—and help others experience it through a single image.
For the past four years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside interior designer Donna Rice on a variety of luxury residential projects throughout Tucson and Southern Arizona. Every project has been an opportunity to photograph spaces that are as functional as they are beautiful
What immediately stands out about Donna’s work is her remarkable attention to detail. Her designs effortlessly blend custom materials, natural textures, and sophisticated finishes that complement the beauty of the Sonoran Desert. Clean architectural lines, warm organic elements, and timeless elegance create spaces that feel both luxurious and welcoming.
One phrase Donna often says before I begin photographing a project has become one of my favorites:
“Rod, create your magic.”
Those four words represent something much deeper than a compliment—they represent trust.
Interior photography is a true collaboration between designer and photographer. A designer invests countless hours developing a vision, selecting every finish, and perfecting every detail. The photographer’s responsibility is to honor that work by translating it into compelling imagery that captures not only what the space looks like, but how it feels.
That creative partnership is what makes these projects so rewarding.
As an artist behind the camera, these assignments are among the work I enjoy most. There is something incredibly satisfying about taking another artist’s vision and bringing it to life through photography. Every image becomes an extension of the designer’s creativity, inviting viewers to experience the space before they ever walk inside.
Professional photography is more than documentation—it’s one of the most important marketing investments a designer can make.
Whether your images are being used for:
…your photography should make an immediate and lasting first impression. Strong imagery communicates professionalism, quality, and the level of craftsmanship your clients can expect.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue working with talented professionals like Donna Rice and helping showcase the incredible design work happening throughout Southern Arizona.
